How to use the News tab on the Findborg Find engine

Whether you’re a professional researcher or just trying to stay informed without getting lost in a sea of data, our new News service is designed to be your shortcut to the truth.

This guide will show you how to master the new interface and use Findborg’s tools to eliminate “result overload.”

Step 1: Access the Find Engine

Start by heading to the main Findborg Search homepage. You’ll see the familiar, clean search bar you’ve always used.

Step 2: Enter Your Query

Type in the topic you want to investigate.

  • Pro Tip: For news specifically, try to use “Entity-based” keywords (e.g., “Global Supply Chain” or “Mars Rover”) rather than long sentences to get the most accurate headlines.

Step 3: Switch to the News Tab

Once your initial results load, look at the navigation bar directly below the search box. Click on the News tab.

This instantly filters out:

  • Static Wikipedia pages
  • Old forum discussions
  • E-commerce listings and ads
  • General “How-to” blogs

Step 4: Use “Sort by Recency”

To truly solve the problem of being overwhelmed, you need the most relevant information first. On the News results page, you can toggle between Relevance (based on source authority) and Date (the most recent stories).

Note: If you are tracking a story that is unfolding right now, switching to “Date” will ensure you see updates from the last hour at the very top of your list.

Step 5: Scan the “Context Snippets”

Rather than clicking every link, use our Context Snippets. Under each headline, Findborg provides a brief summary of the who, what, and when. This allows you to verify if the article contains the specific details you need before you even leave the search page.

Why this works

By narrowing your search to a specific News index, Findborg significantly reduces your “Cognitive Load.” You no longer have to manually check the dates on every search result to see if the information is still valid; the engine does that work for you.
