Just moved from Georgia with my own car (no lien). I know I need a title, but is there an inspection? Do I need Florida insurance before I go to the tax collector?

  • Your out-of-state title (original, not a copy)
  • Valid Florida insurance — yes, you need this before you go. Florida requires PIP (Personal Injury Protection, $10k minimum) and PDL (Property Damage Liability, $10k minimum). Out-of-state policies do not satisfy this.
  • A completed Application for Certificate of Title With/Without Registration (Form HSMV 82040)
  • Your driver's license or ID
  • Payment for title + registration fees (varies by county and vehicle weight — typically $75–$100+)
About inspections: Florida does not require a safety or emissions inspection for most vehicles when registering.
