Five Beams Worth Knowing

If you have been using Findborg without Beams, you have been walking when you could have been flying.

Beams are Findborg’s command-based shortcut system. They are not a menu option. They are not a setting you have to find. They are something you type — directly into the search bar — and they take you somewhere specific, instantly.

Here are five Beams that will change how you use Findborg.

1. !image [your query]

Skip the Web tab entirely. !image sunset over water takes you straight to Findborg’s image search with your query already loaded. No extra click, no tab navigation. You are already looking at what you searched for.

Use this whenever you know you want images. Findborg’s image search surfaces open web results without ads or tracking — clean, fast, and actually showing you what you searched for.

2. !news [your topic]

Go straight to Findborg News for any topic. !news local elections drops you into real news results, curated by community signals, not ad revenue.

No algorithm-fed noise. No sponsored content pretending to be news. Just what is actually happening, filtered for relevance, without the layer of personalization theater that makes most news feeds feel like they are reading you more than you are reading them.

3. !borg [your question]

This one activates Borg directly from the search bar with your question already in place. !borg what caused the 2008 financial crisis takes you straight to a Borg session with that question loaded.

You do not have to navigate to /borg/, type “Hey Borg,” then type your question. One Beam, one shot, you are already in deep research mode.

Use this for anything where you need synthesis, not just links. Historical events. Complex topics. Anything where you want a real breakdown rather than a list of articles you would have to read yourself.

4. !hive [your topic]

Go straight to The Hive with a topic already scoped. !hive best fishing spots Hernando County takes you to community posts about that topic from Citizens who actually know.

This is the Beam for local knowledge, niche expertise, and anything where the answer you need lives in someone’s head rather than on a crawlable web page. The first person who ever used Findborg asked where to find the best Chinese food in Hernando County. He knew the answer would come from people, not a page. !hive is that instinct, built into a command.

5. !pause [your search]

Findborg Pause is video discovery without the autoplay trap. !pause Hernando Beach Florida takes you directly to video content about that topic — found, not algorithmically served to you.

No recommended rabbit holes. No autoplay queuing up something you did not ask for. You searched for a thing, you found video about that thing. That is how discovery is supposed to work.

One More Thing: Stacking Beams

Beams are most powerful when they become instinct. When you know you are looking for images, you reach for !image before you even think about it. When you need depth, !borg is faster than navigating there. When you want to know what people who have been somewhere actually think, !hive is the first move.

The search bar is the whole interface. Beams are how you aim it.

These five are a start. Findborg is in Public Beta — more Beams are coming. If you discover a workflow that works, share it on The Hive.
