The other day I was looking into a Philadelphia to Paris trip and every search I ran gave me the same thing. Expensive nonstops out of PHL and the big booking sites. Almost gave up, then I found the trick. Take NJ Transit from 30th Street to Newark Airport, about an hour and under $20. From Newark, budget airlines like French Bee and Norse Atlantic fly direct to Paris for way less than the PHL flights. Ended up hundreds cheaper for one extra train ride. The flight sites never show you this because nobody makes a commission on the train.
