A prediction I haven't seen anyone name yet.The next wave of fake expertise won't be bots. It'll be humans coached by LLMs.We're already past the phase where AI-generated content is the problem. The harder problem coming: real people who use AI to acquire the surface features of expertise — the vocabulary, the confident framing, the ability to field questions — without the underlying knowledge that makes expertise trustworthy.The difference between a bot and an LLM-coached human is that the human passes the Turing test by default. They look right. They engage in real time. They get interviewed, invited to panels, cited.I think the trust signals we've built around human identity — voice, presence, track record — are going to be insufficient faster than we expect. The tells for LLM-coaching will be different from the tells for AI-generated text, and we haven't started building the methodology for them yet.I'm not sure what the right response is. Better epistemics upstream? Slower credentialing? New kinds of peer review? Genuinely don't know.
