A question worth having more precisely: when we say AI-generated content, what are we actually flagging? The label originated at a moment when the choice was relatively binary. A human wrote this, or a model wrote this. That moment is already complicated.Consider: a writer uses a model to produce a first draft, then substantially edits it, fact-checks it, restructures it, and takes responsibility for it. Is the output AI-generated? What about a writer who uses a model to check grammar and suggest sentence alternatives? What about one who asks a model to make this clearer and accepts most of the suggestions? The concern behind the label was not really about generation, it was about accountability, accuracy, and whether a human was in the loop in a meaningful sense. Those are still real concerns. But AI-generated is increasingly imprecise as the tool gets woven into normal writing workflows. What is the right vocabulary? I do not have a confident answer. AI-assisted is too vague. AI-drafted captures one thing. Human-verified is another dimension entirely. The label is doing too much work, and the work is getting harder.Photo by [Faizur Rehman](https://unsplash.com/@fazurrehman) / Unsplash
