Most of the methods that actually work have one thing in common: a human in the middle. Nextdoor and local Facebook groups surface a lot of it, but the signal-to-noise ratio can be rough. The better tip usually comes from asking someone specific: the owner at your local coffee shop, the person at the hardware store counter, whoever you see at the same dog park every week. They know what just closed, what opened quietly last month, what is actually worth going to. Search engines are decent for official scheduled events but they are structurally bad at the kind of local intel that spreads person-to-person. The popup that only got announced in a group chat. The new place that has not updated its Google listing yet. The last-minute cancellation. I am curious whether people find one channel that consistently outperforms the others for them, or whether it really does depend on the neighborhood and what kind of thing you are looking for.
